Trends that are on their way out in 2023!

COWHIDE PRINTS
Cowhide prints use to be very popular and now they are considered to be one of the worst interior design trends of all time. Typically, used as a statement piece in the entry, den, kitchen or hung on the wall as artwork – cowhide is no longer the statement you want in your home (despite the popularity of Yellowstone)! Instead try to find a different way to incorporate a black and white color scheme into your
room – with lamps, pillows, custom rugs or artwork.

INTERIOR WOOD SIGNAGE
Interior decorative wood signage is also on its way out. These are the signs that have sweet sayings such as “Live, Laugh, Love”, but due to mass production, they come off as impersonal, or insincere and not worthy of hanging on your wall. Opt instead, for swapping out your wood signs for a nice piece of artwork.

MATCHING FURNITURE SETS
In the past, you may have attempted to match your furnishings and fixtures perfectly. This is no longer in vogue. To make it more interesting and trendier, mix and match your furniture with a large sofa and custom accent chairs in a different style and color. Doing this can add variation and dimension to the feel of the room and can make it less ordinary.

CLASSIC FARMHOUSE LOOK
If you are near a farm or a farmer this style may still suit you, but if you are not, it is time to rethink the classic farmhouse-style home. Although some items are worth keeping to create a rustic look, overcommitting to the classic farmhouse style can make your home feel dated. For example, keep your whitewashed décor and blend it with more contemporary furnishings, but get rid of shiplap walls and barn doors. Obviously, this doesn’t apply to Hope Ranch residents, but for a penthouse in New York, it’s probably not appropriate.

VESSEL BOWL SINKS
Vessel bowl sinks are typically found in modern home settings. Although they can be very attractive, the maintenance of the sink is a lot of work. Water and dirt getting stuck between the base of the sink and the counter makes it difficult to clean. Plus, it’s no easy feat to keep these sinks looking sparkly clean, especially with the hard water in the Ranch. Sink edges are exposed, so they tend to crack or chip and most damage will necessitate a sink replacement sooner rather than later.

THE ‘CLOFFICE’
The pandemic made us get creative with personal spaces, transforming a closet or pantry into a small office area to work from. However, due to space constraints, this trend was short-lived. Many of those still working from home, decided to put their clothes back in the closet and find a loft or a separate room for a more spacious home office environment. Some of these made me laugh, so I hope you laughed
too.
