Naval is the 2020 color of the year…and it is not orange!
2020 decorating trends are pointing to a dark shade of blue! Sherwin Williams color of the year is a classic navy they named ‘Naval’. Pantone picked a similar color for 2020 which is a slightly brighter navy, called ‘Classic Blue’. Think of the color of a night sky coming into your home, bringing a feeling of nature and opulence as in blue lapis, marble, colored textures like velvet, lacquer and fine china.

A dark shade of blue can be used as a wall accent, a whole room color, on cabinets or accents such as throw pillows and artwork. This navy-blue trend is a reflection of home interior designs that are gradually returning to more traditional decorating styles, particularly in textiles.
Other popular colors for 2020 are reflective of nature. Names like Dusty Bombay (pale pink-think twilight), Winter Calm (a light grey), Canyon Earth (light brown putty color), Desert Fortress (tan mustard), Pale Powder (pale green), Secret Moss (moss green), Secluded Garden (light blue green), and Tempered Sage (soft mustard yellow), all exude a sense of calm that works in any space.
Home and Décor trends seem to communicate a reaction to current events. There is a proven direct correlation between what shades are popular and what is happening around the world. At the onset of 2020, the trending colors are ‘calming, upbeat and happy’.
